چکیده

We revisit the distant future of the Sun and the Solar system, based on stellar models computed with a thoroughly tested evolution code. For the solar giant stages, mass loss by the cool (but not dust-driven) wind is considered in detail. Using the new and well-calibrated mass-loss formula of Schröder & Cuntz, we find that the mass lost by the Sun as a red giant branch (RGB) giant (0.332 M , 7.59 Gyr from now) potentially gives planet Earth a significant orbital expansion, inversely proportional to the remaining solar mass. According to these solar evolution models, the closest encounter of planet Earth with the solar cool giant photosphere will occur during the tip-RGB phase. During this critical episode, for each time-step of the evolution model, we consider the loss of orbital angular momentum suffered by planet Earth from tidal interaction with the giant Sun, as well as dynamical drag in the lower chromosphere. As a result of this, we find that planet Earth will not be able to escape engulfment, despite the positive effect of solar mass loss. In order to survive the solar tip-RGB phase, any hypothetical planet would require a present-day minimum orbital radius of about 1.15 au. The latter result may help to estimate the chances of finding planets around

Design, construction and calibration of single channel sun-photometer for study of aerosols

Aerosols are tiny liquid or solid particles suspended in the air have a strong influence on air quality, human health and climate change. Sun-photometer is a tool for measuring the optical and physical characteristics of aerosols by using sunlight at various wavelengths from the Earth surface. In this paper, the design, construction, and calibration of a single channel sun-photometer is present...

Iranian EFL Learners’ Motivation Construction: Integrative Motivation Revisited

Although Gardner and his associates’ work was most influential in the field of L2 motivation, from the early 1990s onwards, their work has been criticized for several reasons. Some researchers claimed that integrative and instrumental orientations were no longer able to convey the complexity of the L2 motivation construct. To examine this complexity, the present study attempted to investigate t...

Application of Geographical Location Differences of the Sun- Path Diagram in Climatic Architecture

In this study, by recognizing geographical location changes of the sun-path diagram, we present a selection of sustainable architectural guidelines that influence the climatic element of sunshine. For this purpose, after the introduction of triple zones of the earth in terms of how the sun is exposed(include:Tropical, temperate and polar), the function of the earth's curvature to create geograp...

Results of Long-Duration Simulation of Distant Retrograde Orbits

Distant Retrograde Orbits in the Earth-Moon system are gaining in popularity as stable ‘parking’ orbits for various conceptual missions. To investigate the stability of potential Distant Retrograde Orbits, simulations were executed, with propagation running over a thirty-year period. Initial conditions for the vehicle state were limited such that the position and velocity vectors were in the Ea...
